MAINTENANCE OF
MIRROR AND BULBS
As with all items proper maintenance of our professional
portable makeup mirror will insure lasting operation.
Recommended maintenance procedures are as follows:
Maintenance of Mirror: To remove a broken makeup mirror is not
difficult, but we do warn to be careful of being cut. Our mirrors are velcroed into place on the
electric panel of your case. This means
anyone is able to remove the mirror without any tools. To begin, you must first
remove the inside track bulb at the top of the makeup mirror. Once the bulb is removed gently but pry up
the damaged makeup mirror.
To replace the original mirror with another you may use the
Velcro remaining on the electrical panel to adhere your new mirror to. Press down on it to be certain it is adhering
properly to the panel. If it appears to
be too loose, you may remove it and use the backing on your new mirror. Otherwise you may remove the first layer of
Velcro strips and use ones on the panel.
Carefully center the mirror visually and press it down on the remaining
strips. Secure the Velcro pieces
together by gently yet firmly pressing on the mirror where the strips are
located. Replace the bulb and locks.
Maintenance of Bulbs:
To replace bulbs it is necessary to first
remove the tube locks, which are the white tabs at the end of each bulb. Sometimes this stick in the end caps, so some
twisting and manipulating of the locks may be required. If these are damaged in the attempt please
let us know and we will replace them for $.75 each. Once these are removed the bulbs may be
removed by squeezing the protective tube until you can twist the bulb inside
the tube. A half turn should disengage
the bulb from the florescent post.
Placing a new bulb in and securing it would be the reverse of the
removal instructions. To ensure the
safety of the bulbs, please return the locks over the posts.
The mirror is velcroed with industrial 3” Velcro, this means
it will take some effort to pry it, but with gradual prying at different
locations it won’t take you too long.
The mirror is velcroed with three strips, one at the top, one across the
center of the makeup mirror, and one at the bottom of the mirror.
Pry along either the left or right side of the mirror for
the best results. Pry at the bottom,
then some at the center then at the top.
Resume prying at the bottom, center and so forth until you have lifted
it along that side. The makeup mirror is taped
on the back so you shouldn’t encounter glass splinters, but you may do well to
us a pair of good fitting gloves to protect your hands.
